SOMA has sedative effects (in the low back pain trials, 13% to 17% of patients who received SOMA reported feeling drowsy, compared to 6% of patients who received a placebo) [see ADVERSE REACTIONS] and may impair the mental and physical abilities necessary for the performance of potentially hazardous tasks, such as operating machinery or driving a car. Following the launch of SOMA, claims of auto accidents linked to its use have surfaced.
